Who we are and what we do
We aim to provide a safe and welcoming environment for Lesbian, Gay,
Bisexual, Transgender Young People on the Isle of Wight. In order to do
this we have to ensure that each young person’s confidentiality is
safeguarded. As a visitor we ask you to agree to maintain confidentiality
with regard to others and the location of our premises.
Information about a person belongs to them and should not be shared or
disclosed by others without that person’s permission. If someone divulges
their sexuality to you, you are expected not to reveal that information to
anyone else. Even if someone seems very open about their status it does
not mean that they tell anyone else about it – and neither should you.
Confidentiality
‘I promise to keep secret the meeting place of the Youth Group and will
not tell anyone who is not a member of the group where it is.’
Outing
‘I will not ‘out’ anyone that I meet at the Youth Group. I will not cause
any group member any embarrassment should I meet them outside of the
group.’
Discrimination
‘I will not discriminate against any group member because of their age,
sexuality, colour of skin, disability or religion.
Please help us to maintain Youth Pride as a safe place.
